External Wall Insulation Grants in Surrey with Streets Ahead
Do you live in the Surrey area? Is your property built with solid brick walls rather than cavity? If so, you are definitely eligible for a £5,000 grant towards the cost of external insulation, or ‘Solid Wall Insulation’ as it is sometimes known. This is a revolutionary way to insulate your home, turning a once cold and uninsulated property into something comparable to a new build.
Why external insulation?
Insulating externally is a really practically, massively effective way to reduce damp issues, hugely increase the insulating properties of the wall and smarten up the appearance of the property.
If you have had double glazing installed and think that has warmed up your home, then you will be amazed with external insulation. It will absolutely revolutionise the warmth and comfort in the home, with the walls being taken up to a u-value of 0.27. If you have any damp problems due to condensation, you will see massive improvements – as the walls will be much warmer and therefore reduce condensation.
How to claim the grant
The only restriction on the grant is that you live in the Surrey area. There are no criteria based on income or benefit status. The only thing you willneed is to have old solid brick walls rather than the more modern cavity type walls. If you have any doubts, you can give us a call and we will be able to help work out if your home is right for external insulation.
How much funding can I get via Streets Ahead?
The Streets Ahead scheme is really simple, and more generous than the national GDHIF scheme. Any works up to £5,000 are covered by the scheme, so you don’t have to pay a penny. Any works over £5,000 will receive the full grant of £5,000 and you will have to pay any costs above that. So a £7,000 installation would only cost you £2,000. Simple.
How long will the scheme last?
It is open to new applicants until September, and you will need to get the work installed by March 2016.
