GDHIF phase 4 for solid wall insulation is coming soon!

With the launch of the new round of Government funding for solid wall insulation just a matter of weeks away – it is worth ensuring you have everything in place to claim your voucher.

As you may know the Green Deal Home improvement fund has now been released on 3 occasions by the Government and all three phases of this scheme have been incredibly popular even though the funding contribution from the Government has reduced over time.

We are expecting this fourth round of GDHIF funding to be released in the next couple of weeks and since the new Government seem to be cutting funding in this kind of area – this could be the last round of funding before it gets replaced by a different scheme.

Why is GDHIF so popular for solid wall insulation?

The great thing about GDHIF is that it is completely non-means tested, that means provided you have a solid wall property and you are planning to insulate at least 50% of the heat loss surface of your home with solid wall insulation they are are eligible.

Having said that, in order to claim a voucher under the previous three GDHIF releases, there has been a requirement for an EPC dated within the last 2 years (or Green Deal report) as well as a valid quote from a GDHIF qualified installer.

If you are interested in claiming a voucher for the fourth release of this Government funding you must have these two things in place before the scheme gets released. The day the scheme goes live you then need to visit the Government GDHIF portal and upload these two documents with the various other details they require (e.g. bank details to pay the voucher amount into once the install is complete).

We are expecting demand for quotes (and EPCs for that matter) to go through the roof in coming weeks as demand for GDHIF funding goes through the roof, so to avoid disappointment we really do recommend acting fast – We do say this everytime and people chuckle, but with a scheme as generous as this, the funding only lasts a matter of days, so acting fast is absolutely imperative.

If you can get £4,000 towards the cost of solid wall insulation, this may reduce the payback to just two or three years and if your home could do with re-rendering anyway – this is the perfect time to do it. Not only can you improve the appearance of your home, you can also benefit from the huge energy savings all at a hugely subsidised install cost.
